It rains in the south as she bids farewell to three relatives, neighbors and martyrs from her womb. The anonymous community mourns and bids them farewell at their personal and institutional funerals. The gunshots resonate in the gray skies of an area that asks for justice and peace. The dead non-commissioned officers carried out daily functions beyond the institutional, in the south a police officer maintains a different contact with the community, especially in remote areas (rural), in the same day they can be nurses, counselors and custodians. In confidence, some are named by their childhood nicknames and their physical builds, without fear of urban correctionism and modern catton.
After the victims of horror, the Chilean government decided on the tangled path of complaints and grandiose speeches, with this, the legitimate and necessary way of using force (legal and constitutional) was ruled out, we must trust (they tell us) that Those responsible will be searched “like dogs” by sky, sea and land. Boric decided not to militarily invade the conflict zone or quickly find the culprits. The souls of the government are trapped by the armed means of yesterday and today.
The martyrs were murdered under a coldly executed plan; riddled, reduced, relocated to the police vehicle and finally burned. The details of the “site of the event” are shocking and gruesome. It is a new case: we are in the south and in democracy with different motivations and lines of investigation. The charred bodies demonstrate savagery, a kind of inhuman ritual, a new sacrifice of innocents, of public officials and uniformed men of the narrow strip, who apparently matter less than the other strip that keeps us awake at night in the international relations of the PC and Boric. In green families there is despair and despair in the face of the authorities' speeches, for a moment a “neither forgiveness nor forgetting” makes sense in the face of cruelty, pain and helplessness.
A tragic event in the hands of those who do not believe in democracy or human dignity, they see in the other an enemy who does not deserve to live, an act of a criminal organization that without euphemisms or sociological validations is terrorist and antisocial, that is, a danger to southern and national society; But since it does not happen in the central valley, the south can continue waiting for laws, commissions and judicial deadlines. At the moment, the promotions and the salvos are not enough, the culprits are missing, we are not all there, they are missing: Cisterna, Vidal and Arévalo. Are the complaints, the days of mourning and the curfew in the area, decreed by the Frente Amplista government, enough? No. History will not absolve this government.
After the “burned case”, relatives of the recent and previous martyrs, and other social actors have pointed out and raised a no small issue with obvious consequences: the disqualification, repulsion and verbal violence translated into deaths in uniforms, it is enough to review the growing list of martyrs and posthumous promotions of recent times. There are those who forget that behind the uniform there are ordinary people who decided to be part of an institution that serves the community.
From one moment to the next and not coincidentally: “the pacos began to become enemies of the people” and their denouncers: the apologists of violence and social hatred. Those who always need an enemy on duty and tactically install seductive concepts: “they owe us the desired dignity and the bloodthirsty police repress us.” Since that revolutionary and feverish milestone (October 2019) and for a long time, the finger was pointed, incendiary bombs and stones; Animosity, hatred and “visceral rejection” rarely seen in democracy (lepers in biblical tone) were transferred to the institution of police officers.
Those in uniform with their typical colors were associated with everything that was wrong in this country, they went from being custodians of public order, guarantors of free movement to being systematic violators of the human rights of hundreds of idealistic young people opening the great avenues, faced with corrupt uniformed men and representatives of social evil. The ordinary police officer had to assume the institution's own errors and bear all the hatred in a new version of the class struggle; The left denigrated and cornered the uniformed man, the daily figure of the police officer was seen as a leper and feral, a trigger-happy madman.
Not in accordance with the above, the apologists of violence and hatred, raised the pagan and urban cult of a black and wild quilter, they made him part of the Santeria of Octubrism, a patron saint of stones and incendiary bombs, the so-called: “killer dog”. He was chanted and paraded by “mascotistas”, intellectuals and urban guerrillas, the quilter and his red scarf represented the marginal, the street and the savage instinct to mercilessly attack the green prey. They were one step away from placing it on the national shield, possibly attacking the huemul. Today he was abandoned again on the street, because he is of no use to them and his defense is not fashionable nor does he fully represent the government in power, it is not well regarded for him to meddle in the corridors of power. Now everyone denies him from captain to page.
The cult of the quilter, Octubrism and the deaths of police officers represent civilizational setbacks. The left and the government continue to be passive accomplices to the violence of today and yesterday.
